The Bemidji Regional Interdistrict Council (BRIC) is a well established and highly regarded special education services cooperative serving 11 member Districts in North Central and Northwestern Minnesota for over 50 years.
Executive Director /Director of Special Education
The Executive Director/Director of Special Education serves as the Chief Administrator for the Cooperative and as the licensed Director of Special Education for the Member Districts. Oversight of operations includes the supervision and management of staff, resources and property along with oversight of the BRIC annual budget and authorization of daily expenditures. The BRIC Director reports to the BRIC Executive Committee which is comprised of the 11 Superintendents of the Member Districts. The BRIC employs on average 85 plus special education and related services personnel including Teacher Specialists, School Psychologists, Low-Incidence Specialists, Speech/Language Clinicians, Paraprofessionals and Occupational and Physical Therapists.
Interested applicants must hold or be eligible for a valid license as a Director of Special Education in Minnesota. Applicants must also be eligible for licensure as a Superintendent of Schools. Demonstrated 3 to 5 years of successful experience in special education and administration. MA/MS in special education and Ed.S. in educational administration required. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing as well as organizational and decision-making skills for success.
The BRIC Executive Director/Director of Special Education is a 12-month 260-day contract. The BRIC offers a competitive compensation package; salary range of $140,000 to $150,000 paid vacation days, paid holidays, sick leave, a tax shelter annuity plan, a severance plan and quality supervision, technology support and resources for success. Targeted start date is July 1, 2025.
